“Meeow - Hello”! My name is Tumbi and I am a “lockdown newborn” at Persian Cat Rescue Durban. I am so happy to welcome you to our very first Newsletter. It is so exciting to be able to share our history, our stories and our achievements with you on this MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet page. Not only that, but we want to share our hopes, & dreams with you & ask you to help us on our journey going forward. You have the power to help us in so many ways, please bring your big generous loving hearts a little closer & a little deeper & help to sustain us. In this newsletter I will tell you a little about what I have learned about life here,at Persian Cat Rescue Durban & the sanctuary, I was born in to.
Our sanctuary, as most of you know, cares for abused, unwanted, abandoned or neglected Persian cats. By looking at these pictures you can see what wonderful work is done here!
Sylvia our “Mom” and Owen, (her reliable, lovable assistant), are there to Rescue, Rehabilitate, and Re -home us proud Persian cats. Many Persian ‘kitties’ find themselves in heart wrenching situations and “PCRD”, (as we are fondly known) is ALWAYS there to help. Our beautiful, safe sanctuary is “tailor made” to combat the horrors and cruelty that so many of us find ourselves in. We are taken in, and cared for, with tender, loving care. Some of us, sadly, are just too damaged to ever be rehomed, while others are rehabilitated and homed Successfully. Our homing policy is very strict, and strong, lasting relationships are made with almost all who adopt from us.
As we rely totally on the generosity of our community, cat lovers and others who love us, we really value those who have signed up for the Woolworths, MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet Card. In this first Newsletter, Tumbi wants to zoom in & focus on this area, as it could just help us so much. Tumbi knows its hard times out there, & while our most urgent need is always cash, not everybody can give in this way. Tumbi asks that you would help us to grow our MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet people. All that needs to be done is that you apply for a My School card, then choose PCRD as the beneficiary you want to support,& then just swipe whenever you shop. If you need help applying or signing up, just shout & we will help you!
We are so grateful to members who have signed up in support of PCRD as each and every one of you helps so much to make a difference in our lives. You may not realise how important your contribution is when you swipe your card, but to us it could be lifesaving! Tumbi is living proof of how a village can save a floof babies life. Everyone can play a part in helping to change the life of each rescue that finds itself in the hands of PCRD, just like me! I am alive, against all odds, because people donated & gave in whichever way they could, & that’s the only way my life & every life, can make it.
These past few months have been really hard for all, and some of our loyal supporters have not continued using their cards. We “floofs”, as we are lovingly known, want to try and help the situation. If each one of our loyal members could speak out to friends and family, encouraging them to join MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet. They too, would then get their own card, add PCRD as their beneficiary and ‘voila’, our numbers could be doubled. Registration is simple, just visit www.myschool.co.za or phone 0860 100 445 to begin your journey with us. We have a dream to grow our numbers, this can help us so much, if you would help us. As we groom our paws & flick our tails trying to think of ways to keep our food in our bowls, we dream of growing, building, & enlarging our supporters for MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet. We are lazy fat cats, & not very good, admittedly of trying to recruit new peeps, & for some reason, when Syl Posts on social media for this very worthwhile way of helping us, virtually no one responds. So, we are asking you, our loved ones, to help, us. Since, we the floofs do not seem to be able to grow this way of helping us, very much. Tumbi thought in the spirit of Mandela month it would be a good time to ask for your help.

We are always in need of donations to sustain the work we do, & this is our first line of defence, so please do consider this as our first need & cry for help, always, but alongside this, or if you are not in the position to financialy help, us, please could you help us with MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet. How can you help us 1. Apply & nominate us as your beneficiary 2. Like, Comment, Share whenever we post about MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet 3. Recruit family members, friends, acquaintances to join. We kitties (and I am sure MySchool humans too) would love to know why you have chosen PCRD as your beneficiary. Another way of helping us is to post your comments on our posts as this may encourage others to join. If you have a Persian cat as a pet why not post a picture too and if he/she is one of our rescues we would love to hear and see how they are doing. When you show your support & how you are helping us, it encourages others to do the same. As MySchool says – “Alone there is only so much we can achieve, but as a village or a planet we can do so much more! Are you up for the CHALLENGE! We would love & appreciate any bit you can help us with. If you have any ideas to help us grow in this area, do drop us an email. We currently had 115 signed up supporters. May was great, with everybody swiping their cards, we received R 1975.86, June went down a lot to R1075.64.
It is Syls birthday at the end of July, & shes going to make that big announcement of whether I get to stay as her adopted baby, or shes going to put me up for adoption. I know shes very torn with lots going on in her head & heart.
	I, Tumbi, Tumbalina, baby floof want to stay, this is the only life I've known. Mommy cat, who abandoned me at birth, is still here too, but we are still estranged, & she in her very mystical feline way, seems not to remember or acknowledge, me. Hows that for rejection, thank goodness for Syl & Owen & all of you who fought so hard to save my life. I am forever & eternally grateful. Whatever my destiny is, whether I get to stay or get adopted out, im going to pay it forward & give back to all the other rescue sanctuary kittys here. Please help me do this. Together we can do great things in a hurting & broken world. We need you friends, please help us grow, in that way, we will be able to continue on & you will help to sustain us in the work that we do.
