Perhaps the love of 2 cats? Both named Chloé.

In this issue we look at our youngest Persian mommys. Our youngest mommy's are two sisters, they are 15 & 16 years old. We also look at our oldest Persian mommy, who is 87 years old.

Ironically, both our youngest mommy's & our oldest mommy, each adopted a Persian from us, & both Persians were called Chloé. Chloé means thriving & flourishing, and that is just so true in both of their homes.


Adoption, the feeling of taking a bundle of joy, looking into his/her trusting eyes, holding them close for the very last time, kissing them goodbye & placing them into the hands of those we have grown to know & trust.

These people become our pillars & our promise keepers. They promise to love our rescues with their all & to protect them & care for them, all the days of their life. It is both scary & exciting, as the rescue floof, starts his, or her, new life with their new parents. It is said that an Organisation is only as good as its people. This is the truth. I can honestly say that our tribe, our people, that's those of you who follow our work & support us, sharing our values & principles. really are, our true riches.

Adoption has a special place in my heart. Although i may not be able to change all the rescues lives, but i could for Chloé and God willingly more in the near future

Our Oldest Mommy

"Mom who is 87 lost her beloved colour point Persian Cadbury - her constant companion and one of the loves of her life. I remember when she died, thinking to myself ... How I was ever going to find a cat to replace her?

How was mom going to cope - she always said to me how she would have these long discussions with her, and knowing that when she returned to her cottage, Cadbury was waiting at the door for her.

We always spoke about how everything is connected after we discovered that a good friend of mine, Leigh, actually had one of her kittens! Leigh, who is very close to mom spoke to Sylvia and let her know that I needed to start looking for another best friend for her as she was heartbroken and often spoke how empty her cottage was.
I know all too well that when your constant companion passes away, you can’t just replace them- it felt almost disrespectful.






AND THEN A MIRACLE HAPPENED

Leigh called me.
A beautiful colour point needed a home.

Would mom consider it?

So Sylvia and I hatched a little plot - she would get Chloe to Durban (she was in Boksburg I think)
I don’t know how she managed it but the angels must have helped! She would then settle her down at the sanctuary and do a home check. All went well. Then we planned to take Chloe to mom and just tell her that she needs a home and love desperately, would she take her in. We were so excited and anxious at the same time!

Sylvia was waiting in the car in case she refused point blank!

Well,
she melted and her eyes filled up with tears and she said she just can’t turn her away- yes yes yes!

I gave the thumbs up to Sylvia and a few weeks later Chloe arrived. Mom adores her- they go to bed, eat and watch TV together and during lockdown has been a blessing as mom hasn’t been out since March!

Thank you for giving mom a reason to wake up in the morning!
